Im hoping i can get some qualified opinions on my latest head scratcher. Now remember i have a Ca. S. O. with the 48re. Long term performance, fuel mileage and egt controls are my major criteria. Heres the question, should one go the D. D. 2 and Edge EZ route and have a proven reliable rig that would be apt to do great with the 48,or go with the TST powermax and upgrade the trans at a later date, figuring i would never dial up past 5/5 h. p. and tq. Obviously choice 2 would require more cash, but im looking long term. Any body had a chance to do fuel mileage numbers with their TST? Thanks in advance. Mark.

I would personally stay away from a box that raises fuel line pressure. I never intend to use my TST box on anything higher than 5/5 but I wanted the digital gauges and safe power. I have noticed on my first 2 tanks after install that I am getting 1 more mpg around town(17. 4-18. 4). I plan on towing my 5th wheel for a getaway this weekend so I will post mileage monday.

This concern about fuel pressure increase is interesting. The EZ is raising rail pressure about 2k psi at lower rpm,on a California s. o.

The 325/600 is running about 2k psi over S. O. pressures. saw a peak of 33psi boost on 325/600 today with a bone stock truck getting on the freway... The electronic waste gate control looks to be just a solenoid to shut off or reduce signal to actuator. Sorry I did not have time to check it out closer.

TST does not raise pressure at all. The issue with pressure boxes has to do with how comfortable you are operating the rail in the region designed as margin. There is about 25% margin between the stock max pressure (1600 BAR) and the safety pop-off pressure (2000 BAR). The latter is a destructive pressure release that requires dealer service to correct.

Boxes that run the rail pressure up to 27,000 lbs and above are living very dangerously in my opinion. I wouldn't raise pressure at all -- there are better ways to get a bigger squirt of fuel (injectors) in my opinion. In fact, I would think a set of 100 HP injectors would be better than a pressure only box.

woa, there's some data that will give pause to those of us against pressure increases. we'll want to understand the '600 rail system if different. if the stock '600 can do it, why not an 03/04 pressure box. hmmmmmm

I run DD3 injectors in my SO, and it runs great. No waste gate mod, no boost fooler, nothing, just the injectors. I make about 27 psi of boost, and the highest egt I've seen has been 1300 with stock exhaust.

I had planned on BOMBing this thing to the max, but my plans have changed.

Hmm,D. D. 3's and nuttin' else? Ever had your truck on a dyno, post injectors? What about mileage numbers? Thanks. :)

Had it on the Dyno, but that was with Diesel Dynamics turbo kit on and an EZ Edge and a 4" exhaust, 448 SAE 865 torque. The stock turbo and exhaust went back on about 2 weeks ago and I took off the EZ at the same time. SOTP it feels like 320 to 330, hard to tell. Not sure on MPG difference over stock injectors, if anything the same or up . 5 mpg. It's great, truck feels and runs like stock, but has more power.
