The PM2 seemed to have just a tad more power between about 1700 and 2000 rpm. It also produced about 31psi of boost in that range wile the original PM develops about 29psi. This is with stock exhaust and a K&N filter in the stock air box.
I feel that if you were in the right gear pulling a hill the PM2 would outrun the PM but if you had to downshift, the PM would beat the PM2 without any problem.
The flicker I am talking about is when you let off the gas. . er. . diesel pedal. The fuel light flickers causing the truck to buck a little (sometimes), The engine makes strange noises which I would describe as giving it fuel then taking it away and giving it back ... every 1/2 second or so for about 3 seconds.
I am also familiar with the loud growling you are talking about. I think all the PowerMaxes do it. I have been assuming it is some kind harmonic which is a result of running the engine at a low RPM while giving it all that fuel. When it growls, I just let off the throttle a little until the revs get a little higher.
