Too many different options to know for sure which will be the best on your truck. I have tried both ways, using Smarty with timing and turning timing down on TST or Smarty with NO timing and using TST for timing.
Both ways work, the difference is hard to really determine. But every truck is a little different.
I would start with Smarty on no timing SW that you like for the street, maybe 4 or 6. Then add the TST with default timeing of 12* Auto, start with low settings ( 2/0 ) and go up until you find the one like.
Then reverse the process, load Smarty with timing at the number you like. Add the TST with reduced timing around 3* or so and same 2/0 settings and once again go up until you like it. Then determine which seems the best for you truck.
There are so many combinations that could work well with the TST/Smarty combo that I probably will never try them all.
I currently have Smarty Moderate Torque Management SW #4, TST 05tt program with Timing at 12* Auto set at 2/0 and EZ on Level 1 for daily driving. Plenty of power, no rattle, smokes controllable and the mileage is good.
