One of my buddies (Josh) mentioned to me the other day his Dad had a TST box he had on a 99 Ram that he got rid of a while back.

Anyhow, I guess he's still got the box collecting dust and was thinking of ~$150 for it, said he paid ~$300 from what he remembers.

I haven't seen it (Dad lives in Texas), but the best I can figure it's a TST Power Max? Josh said it was a small black box with an on/off switch on it.

That page is messed up though, says 98. 5-02 is a 3rd gen??

Anyhow I was wondering if TST made anything else a few years ago? If not, would this TST box be a decent thing to add to my truck, and is $150 fair?

Actually I am in the same situation. A friend of mine also has a tst lying around and was wanting to sell it to me. Its off a 99 and from what he says it has a toggle switch and also comes with a remote. He had bought it a few years back and said it seemed to fuel real hard. He also said it didn't seem to defuel at all and it got the egt's extremely hot, fast. Does it sound like the comp or is it an old model thats probably not worth going for. I wasn't considering at the moment of trying a different programmer but if the price is right I probably cant go wrong getting it for maybe future mods(stacked w/smarty).

Have him look at the box, if its the powermax 2 or 3 it will say it, if its the comp it will appear as follows on the link below. No it does not de fuel, the easiest way to put it, this is a box for someone who wants all the fuel delivery possible at any given time, stock turbo motors will run hot as hell 1500 EGT is not uncommon for a truck with a high flow intake and 5" exhaust on level 9 if in fact it is the COMP version. But I wouldnt trade mine for the world and thats after trying everything else!!!

Hope that helps

I called TST and the units that were $150 are all sold out. What is was is they were locked to PowerMax 1 since there is no phone cord plug in the back. Also not remote capable.

I'll talk to my buddy and see if perhaps that's what his Dad has. Maybe can get it for $100. Wouldn't be a bad upgrade, I think?

As I understand, it can be turned off? So if I find the EGTs are getting too high while towing, I could always turn it off.

I remember reading that tapping the pump wire is bad. What exactly does it do to the pump?

I'm all for power, but I don't want to make my truck unreliable either.

Well I came home Sunday evening from fishing and there was a box on my doorstep with a note "Try it out and if it works you can send the money".

I've got to get a copy of the instructions off TST's website and slap it in this weekend if I have a chance.

I was wondering for the pump wire, are ScotchLoks a good idea? I normally cut the wire and use a butt connector with shrink wrap since I hate ScotchLoks.
