Touchy, touchy :(

I was just kidding---and don't you remember checking out my HX55 at the Ford dyno day here in Vegas a couple years ago when I turned 609 hp? You helped "push" it onto the dyno. While it was outside Silver State you jumped onto the bumper and peeled off the electrical tape on the turbo label to kid around.

I know you haven't used that HX55 but maybe you should. . . it's a good turbo.

I can't share any new numbers with you because I don't have any. Pius milled all the numbers off the turbo I am running now, and that is the most interesting thing on my truck now, by popular vote.

Come to Vegas for the next dyno day or MM, and let's try for 800 hp (900 anyone?).

Why don't you come over to our dyno and see if you can even break 500:p Don't expect anyone to participate in your events when you don't participate in other people's events. This is supose to be a fun hobby, were everyone can trade secrets... Piers, your the best at sharing secrets, Joe, your the worst. And don't forget, your not the only one that has the turbo you have ;) IE: my new sig.

Jake, What kind of dyno do you have, and why do you think it is better than the Dynojet that reads almost identically everywhere? I broke 500 after Piers and I came up with the HX40 and 370 injectors way back when he was still at BD. I did it on Silver State's Dynojet. I later got 609 and 763 on that dyno.

I have gone to the TDR Nationals in 99 and 02, Tulare every year, Texas rally twice, Glen Thomas and Auge's each several times, Escondido once, Thunder in Muncie once, the Ford Dyno Days once, Mopars at the Strip once. I attended May Madness every year since getting my Ram. Please remember John ran the first 6 in Carson city, of which I attended 4; also it is not "my" event, it is a group effort as I have written in the TDR. In fact, John has MC'ed two of the 3 since it moved to LV; he couldn't attend the one in 2002.

Really? I don't recall you ever asking me anything. What secrets, Jake? What are YOUR secrets, I have never seen you post any of them. I have posted and put mine in the TDR magazine.

OK, your e. t. suggests you are using Pius' turbo to make serious hp. , and getting it to he ground. Inquiring minds want to know how YOU do it. All of us in the hobby will probably agree that air + fuel = power. Since my turbo is not a secret, was written up in TDR Issue #41, and you now have one, what am I the worst about? Your truck is getting awesome e. t. , why not write an article for the TDR readers on your secrets? Oo.

Lets move this discussion toward working together.

I'd jump in here and referee... but I'd probably get a bottle rocket up my

Jake . . beeeeee careful with the "devices" as they might ban us in future years "IF " we get to out of line buddy

We REALLY don't need Joe to dyno in Excramento do we??? I'd rather not challenge our new governor to a smoke-fest when he could ... Terminate our hobby by imposing smog checks. :)

Greg

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Our local dyno is a Mustang 1750 (?), not positive on the model number, but its the same one BD has as well. I never said i think it's better, I would just be cool if you would run on someone else's dyno, instead of just your "home turf" dyno.

There are some important key words in your sentances, "I have gone". Have you ever dynoed on a dyno you did not have access to weeks ahead of time? Beter yet, since i am new to all of this than you are, have you ever dynoed outside of Las Vegas area? If so, were and was it since you have "big numbers" now?

###This is supose to be a fun hobby, were everyone can trade secrets... Piers, your the best at sharing secrets, Joe, your the worst###

I have asked you lots of questions, Joe. But I have recieved nothing but bull$hit answers from you. I have other that can tesitfy to this. I asked you at May Madness what kind of RPM's you were turning when dynoing, and you said peak power was between 1600 and 2100rpm... . that's B-S cause not only did a friend of mine video tape the run he caught a few shots of your tach.

When we were at Tulare 2002 I was tinkering on my truck and you came over and critized my truck, pointing out all of the wrongs, some of which I don't have money to fix.

I "was" just giving you some friendly rubbing in my previous post. I know you have a truck built and tuned for one aplication, dynoing. Just as I have built and tuned mine for one aplication, racing. My whole point is, I race on a lot of different tracks, why don't you dyno on different (location or types) of dynos?

I respect you for the adavces you have made in this "sport". Even though I am younger and I have done it for cheaper, please show me at least a glimmer of respect.

That is all.

The only Dodge related combination that gives peak power around 2100 rpm is the #10 plate. My truck has peak power about 3000 rpm. I did not say it has peak at 2100. Peak torque, however, is almost always in the rpm range you say.

I only got over 700 hp in April, and haven't been out of the LV area for any reason since then. It is not worth dynoing on the Mustang, according to many other TDR members, if the truck has high hp. Too much tire slippage. Thus, I might go to another Dynojet event, but the ones I know about are 1000-3000 miles away. Pretty far just to show the comparability of different Dynojets. I have dyno'ed on two Dynojets here in the LV area and they are quite comparable. I did not dyno on Silver State's dyno this year before May Madness, except back in March at the Mopars at the Strip event (688 hp). Very few of the TDR events had dynoing included in years past. Dyno days have become popular in the past couple or three years, and I think the dyno testing that some of us have done has contributed to its popularity as a "sport event. " I don't own or have any financial interest in either local Dynojet, and the Dynojet is not sensitive to suspension, tires, etc. Therefore, advance dyno'ing on that particular instrument is not a competitive edge per se. Dyno'ing is a very important part of a performance development program, and you can be sure that Lawrence Bolton, HVAC, Cumminstrokin, Christian Roth, Maddog, HeberRam, IdahoCTD, Don Morrison, Reb, Opie among others who have attended May Madness dyno days use the dyno extensively.

My truck is primarily a daily driver, tow vehicle for my trailer on trips, and hunting vehicle--mountain trails, etc. With those requirements in mind, dyno related mods are reasonable, but I don't feel that extensive suspension mods, etc. are a good idea. I can't afford a lot of breakage which I would expect if I tried to drag or sled pull with that much hp. Others have had enough breakage with lower hp, and I try to learn from them, too.

I don't know why my answers are bs, I told the facts. You seem very upset about my comments on your truck. I don't remember what I said, but I always intend my comments to be positive and helpful, and others don't seem to have taken any offense. This situation leaves me wondering how to approach you. If I say nothing, I'm the worst, and keeping secrets from you. If I try to help, I'm criticizing. If I answer a question, its bs.

In summary, I'm sorry you took offense to my efforts to help a fellow TDR member. Also sorry if you misheard something I said. Next time, lets sit down and have a cold one and relax.

Ok I am a newbie

Blair says I have to go to this thing. I have checked with my secretary and she said "maybe" ;)

I know the date and the city but is there an address of the "International Agri-Center" so I can get a map of where I am going?

Also camping is how much? and where? I am assuming this is at a fair grounds? Will there be a limit on the number of rigs allowed to camp?

All the general "I have never done this before" questions.

Thanks,

Ira

Blair is right on, every diesel owner should go;)

Directions:confused: Just look for the plumes of black smoke:D

What kind of event would it be without FORDS??? It's the Cheby's we don't let in:D

If ya cant make it to this one, then

come to Belen, NM for the Sandia Showdown @ Auge's Dodge. It might even be a closer drive and you can see the balloons flying in Albq as you pass thru (if you come that way). Registration form is in the current issue of TDR (#41). Of course the more we have the better the camaraderie.

SOTSU!!

\\BF//

Hey Ben... one of these days I'll make this event. . not this year but one soon for sure !!

BTW how many guys know what SOTSU mean LOL [not for you Ben . others]

I give up big guy. What does "SOTSU" mean.

IWeiny, you should strap on that camper and join the Tulare bound caravan. We'll let BPINE lead this time. As for last time, lets just say I got us there via Bakersfield:eek: :D

Hello newbie... ... ... DEPO here responding to your questions...

Our 5th Annual - West Coast - "OCTOBER SHOWDOWN 2003" - All Diesel Pickup Rally will be held again at the International or now called World-Ag Expo Center. It is a unique location and not to be confused with our local fairgrounds. Its over 200 acres of which at least 60 acres or more is reserved just for parking... so far there has been no limit as to the number of dry campers who come and gather for the weekend for fun and entertainment. If you feel you need hook-ups there is a Sun and Fun RV park right across the freeway. We will have Vendor booths and Seminars with the Pickup Truck Pulls and Drag Races in the afternoon. This year we have formatted it into a One Day show however based on the input we will probably go back to the two-day event. It will start at 8:30am and run till 8:30pm. For more info call us at:

800/545-4599.

Thank you and hope you can make it... tell a friend. come early Friday night and dinner will be on us.

DEPO :D :)
