I just purchased 06, 3500 HO auto. Truck ran fine home from texas. I installed a superchips on tow setting and had trouble setting the high idle option but finally got it. Cranked the truck it runs awful. Truck will scream but won't idle down correctly. above 1500 rpm truck stumbles and surges takes several seconds to idle down. I removed tuner but didn't help. I called superchips they updated tuner to no avail. Does anyone have an idea? Jnapier

Sounds like you may have an injector hanging open(high idle). Unplug one at a time until it idles down, if it will not idle down by unplugging the affected injector, it is something other than the ecm giving it control.

It could be mechanical, but I would bet money it is the tuner, try reloading several times.

I had a Superchips Tuner last summer. Took my MPG WAY DOWN, truck would not run very well, many promises from Superchips (when they answered the phone) they never lived up to. Got my money back from the dealer, bought a Smarty from Wagner Assoc. , works first time every time! I have an 06 3500 Megacab 4x4 Laramie with a 6 speed.

I'll second the Smarty from Wagner. I've been running mine for almost 20k now and have had no problems whatsoever. I don't want to bash Superchips, but I've always had the idea they are a better setup for gassers. I do know a surging throttle and idling problems can also be a sign of a failing/sticking FCA. They are pretty cheap to replace. I think they're about $90 direct from Cummins. You can try running about 24oz. of 2-stroke ashless oil (I use the Wally world Super Tech brand) in a full tank of diesel. If the idling/surging problem clears up with the use of the oil then it's no doubt your FCA. A similar thing happened to mine. I added the 2 stroke oil and have had zero problems since, and that's been probably 6,000 miles ago.

Fuel Control Actuator. it controls the amount of fuel delivered to the fuel rail. it's on the back of the CP3 with an electrical connector going to ot. it is held in by 3 small torx bolts.
