Tuners-Upgrades

I just upgraded from a 99 5-speed quad cab with a straight pipe to an 06 mega cab automatic. I never realized how nice it was to be quiet. Wow, these trucks have come a long way.



I was just wondering what the best uprgade would to provide the best combo of power and economy that won't affect my warranty.



I do miss the turbo whistle. I heard a 3rd gen truck the other day that sounded like a jet. All you could hear was the turbo. That was cool.

I removed the turbo silencer from my 99, but it didn't sound anything like that.



Any suggestions??

just put on an open air cleaner and torque tube or whatever and you'll hear the whistle. i can hear it over my stacks. as for the tuners there is plenty out there. just a matter of how much you want. tst, quad, bullydog, va, edge and more. as for the warrenty i think you can just take off the box when you take the truck in for issues, hopefully you won't have. i'm sure someone else will chime in.

Hey, thanks for the info. I'd heard that some tuners would leave fault codes behind even after they were removed.

Seems that the downloaders have more evidence of that then the boxes. Just seems thats the case due to the programs that are REINSTALLED from a down loader.

when i uninstalled mine i had no codes. if you do get codes from installing connectors wrong, then just have them cleared by advanced auto parts or whatevers around by you.

true. because of the key-on counter. the Dl'ers will reset this number, and the tech will notice it.

I have the Edge Juice w/Attitude and I love it. It has great power and the digital gauges. I also took the ring out and put on an AFE Intake Sysytem and the whistle is really loud.

What I mean is that its been posted that when a tech went in with a DRB the ECU numbers on the unit and what was IN the unit were not the same any longer and that it showed Brazil or Argentine as the country!!!! What was/is re downloaded to put it back stock is a NOT what the original program was. Two differant DOWNLOAD manufactures this has been noted. Pretty big RED FLAG that a downloader was used I would think.

I must say as much as I am not a big fan of the DL'ers... Thats CaTCHer has always been a huge hit with the 2nd gen crowd.



I just might jump on board when it becomes available for the 3rd gen

Modules are the way to go. If something mess` up on a module you can at least get back to square 1 and your truck will still run. Downloaders have a nasty little secret of eraseing your ecm from time to time. Its true, its usually the fault of the installer, but it sure is ugly when it happens. Mileage is better on modules too.
