I have a stock hx-35 for now and i have been thinking of going with a 14cm wastegated housing. It was recommended to me a year or so ago by bully dog after they put me on their dyno. I would really like to do this, but i know very little about turbos and the affects of a bigger housing. Can someone please explain the benefits of going to a bigger housing and if there is any problems with it. I have plenty of fuel to spare with my bd4s and a comp on the way , thanks corey

Going from a 12cm housing to a 14 cm. will give you more air flow. The downside is you will have more turbo lag.

Just a note : I have a 14cm with my PDR HX35 turbo with DDII injectors and a Comp. My turbo is a bit small for a Comp to run on 5X5. If you have BD4's and a Comp I would forego the hx35 and go with at least a HX40.

JMHO :)

I also have the PDR 35 w/ a 14cm wastegate. I don't find any lag with a HO maybe with a auto

I have a few others questions about going to a bigger housing, will there be any hp gains and do you gain any boost and how much if there is a gain?

Boost

It doesn't matter if you can get all the boost because if it's hot air it's worthless. With a 14cm wastegated AND a PDR 35 I gained about 20 HP. With having a bigger turbo you need to get that hot gasses out of the engine that's what a bigger housing does for you. If your getting BD4's GET at least a 40 if not more. Give rip a call he'll lead you to a good step for you. http://www.protintnw.com/sa-main.htm

I went from a 12 to a 16 housing and hated it. They said I would get about 10-15 more hp but never saw it. You also had questions about boost my boost was 3-4lbs higher with the 12 than it was with the 16. I ordered a HX-40 wednesday and if I had to do it again I wouldve avoided the 16 all together. I agree with these guys save your money and if you are going to go with a single Id say get a B-1 or if you want twins get a 40. that s just my opinion.
