Just curious, is this a common problem with these 6.7's? Is it one of those deals that its not if but when thing? I just got done reading some folks that went to the 2nd gen spools instead of getting new ones, but you lose the EB, that sux. Others swore on getting an aftermarket like a Fleece VGT, but you have to delete some things to use it. Either way, its still pricey as its my understanding that the OEM needs to be calibrated.

I did mine probably the cheapest route possible, less than $500 incl new coolant(sent my actuator out to be rebuilt). I had access to a scan tool for calibration though.

Dealer says my turbo actuator is bad. I'm right at 5 yr/100k, but they are telling me the actuator was only covered to 50k. It took 5 days for them to decide that the actuator is covered by the basic 50k warranty and not part of the "cummins diesel engine" or "powertrain" 100k sections. I have downloaded the warranty and see "turbocharger housing and internal parts" within the "cummins diesel engine", but can not locate further details. As this is a $3745 question, can anyone direct me to where I can find this in writing? Assuming that this is not covered under warranty, I've already been out of service for 5 days, and don't have time to send for rebuild. I have found a Holset actuator from M&D Distributors for $895, anyone have experience with this company?

Well - never mind on the warranty question. Sag2 answered this question on the next post I read through. covered to 100k on a 2016. Covered to 50k on a 2014. Mine = 2014.

I am having the same issues with my 2014..130k miles and has been delete For a few years. I found a place selling remanded actuators that are pre-programmed to my year model truck...they say plug and play! Is this possible?

Is this possible?

It is, but you are only getting the half shell, the electornics and reusing your housing. Im not convinced this is the best option or even a good one given the reasonable price of a Cummins reman where you get the entire actuator assembly.
Guys that are choosing the half shell just so they don't have to calibrate are also not removing the housing to check for free movement of the turbo and wear of the actuator housing. Essentially assuming the electronics are to blame without verifying.

I don't see how that works. You could pre calibrate an actuator, but it still needs to be calibrated once installed.
Unless you buy one of the fancy aftermarket ones from City Diesel of course.

. I'd be very interested in seeing their assembly instructions. Don't know how they are getting around the calibration.
The description says 300vgt. Either a typo or perhaps they are using a different actuator.
