Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) turbo and downpipe install?

i have my new ps62 and hx40 downpipe. Before i tear into the project, i am curious if i will be running into any forseen problems? I do have a turbo back exaust from Silverline. Will this new hardware bolt right up? Or should i expect to do some cutting, sweating, and cussing? The Mach 4's are still on the way.



i am contemplating on if i should get my truck dyno'd before the goodies go on just so i can see what type of gains i will be getting. Anyone know what Kauffman's charges for spins on their dyno? I am planning on doing the Spring Fling if it is going to go on in a few months

Guys with the 02 trucks have the hy35 turbo... which may need a special fitting for the oil feed line [braided line in top of turbo]. Make sure that you have the correct fittings before ripping into it. The downpipe is a esy change, but may require you to cut your exhaust shorter to make room for the new downpipe.

When I changed my downpipe it was a real PIA. If your exhaust uses the old style U-bolt clapms they kind of crush the pipe a bit and getting the old down pipe off is hard. I used a bunch of ratchet straps and a big hammer. I actually ended up breaking a strap I had it so tight. I soaked the connection down with wd40 and that helped a bit. If you are using the newer band clamps on the exhaust you will have no problems.

If your exhaust uses band clamps it should be easy, I ran into problems though because the new down pipe was shorter ( I don't know what's the matter, I cut it three times and it's still too short :-laf ) I had to go to a local truck shop and they just happen to have a 12 inch piece of 4 inch exhaust pipe they gave me so I could clamp everything together.



The other thing I had to do was clock the turbo a very slight amount in order to get the oil drain tube bolted back on, it's simple but just takes a little bit of time to line everything up and to get the clamps all on. I did the job by myself but it would have helped to have an extra set of hands a few times.
