As soon as I installed the AFE II, Banks Intercooler, and High Ram. I immediately started hearing what seems to be described (in other threads) as a turbo bark. This is happening under normal driving conditions not hard accelerations or letting off fuel quickly. I installed the Banks Moster duals this weekend and the sound still happens. It has happened with the Triple Dog on Stock and/or Tow/Economy (haven't tried the other settings). I am very concerned as there is only 1300 miles on the truck. Any suggestions? Driving the truck like an extreme grandma doesn't seem like a good answer.

I started barking my stock turbo after the TC/Trans upgrades. Certainly not healthy for a stock turbo. My II SPS66 barks just as bad, only louder. I've been told the II SPS66 can take the barking, but I still cringe every time. I have learned to roll in and out of the throttle to minimize the barking. The BD BOV seems to be the best way to eliminate most if not all barking. Just a little expensive for me right now.

If you do a search, there are a lot of posts on barking turbos. Other than the BOV I don't really think there were any other viable solutions.

Welcome to TDR! I hope you find this site useful. Good to see you've got the bombing bug already!

You may try removing your silencer ring. Some have had success in reducing turbo bark by getting rid of it. I'm not sure why it works, but it has been reported that it does.

I barked my stock turbo countless times, but the turbo was living on borrowed time.

I now have a BD BOV, but on an auto it will only help on backing out of the throttle. There's not much you can do about the barking on shifts, or the barking on lockup of the TC.

I'd suggest upgrading your turbo to something that can handle it, like a Phat Shaft 62 (at a minimum). You can find them for under a grand on eBay, and they bolt right in place of your stocker. Coupled with your CAC setup, it would make for good power and low EGT's.

Is turbo bark an "auto" thing? I've only barked mine once and I was trying to do it just to see if I could. I'm talkin' "normal" driving here, not racing.

My Turbo has done this every since I used the Bully Dog downloader (on the 90 hp setting. It has been doing it once or twice a day for the last year. I havn't had any other problems so I guess I will just continue to run it untill something happens. I don't know what happens when it fails, but when and if it does I'll post it.
