shawn i think i know the sound that you speak of , i'll assume your somewhat BOMBed ? if so its the boost pressure i think almost causing the tubo to reverse direction when you let out of it quickly with hi boost . the gassers are able to use a pop off valve to release pressure , we can't . its been mentioned from time to time but no solution as of yet . it can cause a turbo to break its shaft #ad

I have heard Hiperf360s truck **** near blow the air box up on a quick 50psi shutdown. It is best to avoid suddenly letting off if at all possible. The blow off valves don't work to well for us becuase they are usually built for gassers. And all of us know gassers have boost all the way down in the teens usualy lol. I imagine 40psi would Blow one open and send us down in a black overfueled cloud.

Anyone know what acceptable play and/or clearance on the turbo vanes and/or shaft is?

I noticed yesterday morning driving the truck on the highway, that when I put my foot down, the turbo would spool up like normal, but at a certain point, it would "bark" and particularly at the point when I let off the throttle quickly at that point.

The best way I can describe this sound is like when you just finish a cut with an electric circular saw. It wasn't that harsh and loud, but I could hear it mostly resonating in the exhaust system.

I haven't noticed this sound before.

I am sure it isn't anything too serious, but wondering if anyone else has heard of this sound ?

Shawn

I just heard the same thing this morning,im not use the extra power and it was raining and I was leaving a light and the tires broke loose and when I let off I heard that sound, didn't sound good.

The same thing happened to me when I was testimg my new Power Puck. My clutch started to slip, and I basicly sidestepped the throttle at 32 psi... . I am not doing that again. I do not like the sound of a turbo going fom 80k rpm in one direction to 10k rpm in the opposite direction... . BAD JUJU

My turbo has been "barking" since I got the truck new, 72,000 miles ago. I have an auto and it does bark every time it goes into overdrive as well as when having to let off the throttle to avoid hitting the soccer mom changing lanes without notice... ..... The bark has definitely increased in frequency since the installation of the Dunrite TC and increased line pressure from the shift kit giving firmer shifts and the corresponding rapid drop in RPM's.
