Never tried the .22 method.....

Her's a pic of what I did. Fully adjustable without having to remove anything. I took it off once for a dealer trip and when I reinstalled it I didn't tighten it down as much. It felt like I had lost a ton of power. I have to tell you that with my mods, even if the air was heated, I have way more power letting the turbo wind out to 30+ pounds of boost. All parts were readily available at Home Depot. Just had to modify the spring a little.

Suppose it could.....

As I said in my first post, I didn't have it all the way tightened down and I lost lots of power. Tells me it can overcome the spring.

As far as max boost I have had it to 36 on a hard hill climb, Doesn't stay there long drifts down to 31-32 and is pretty steady there. I really could use more air for my set up but the turbo's are so damned expensive and I dread the turbo lag of a larger turbo. As it's a work truck I don't have it maxed very much anyway. If it was a toy I'd probably spend the money.

I used the same thing (Turnbuckle w/ spring) and I get 26 pounds of boost. All you have to do to regulate the boost is change the spring. With the HY35, the efficiency is gone at around 26 psi so this is where I set mine. EGT's are no problem. DDII's from Piers came Friday so we'll see what they'll do to my EGT's :D

The DD2's will do it.......

My EGT's were never a problem. Power was. My boost never got that high till I put the DD2's in. But as stated earlier they need more air to make power. The HY may be out of it's efficiency range but hot air is better than not enough air. Seriously, you can tell the difference in power with just those few more pounds of boost.

Hey Mactruck I need an education

Why does the efficiency peak out on the Hy35 at 26 PSI, Due to the housing size being 9 or 10 cm?

Thanks JJ

Still no answer to the hole size.

Is this the poor mans way to more boost? Will the . 22 brass work on the HX turbo (I think I've got that right... manual trans), or do you still need to have a box or something to reasure the computer that all is well in DC land?

Try going to the Edge website. I think there are instructions on how to use their fitting and if I remember it tells you what size hole you have to drill.

Sticks:

Without some type of boost fooler (fueling box with it built in or seperate box) you will set an overboost code. And for the HX35's there is a boost elbow that is available. I think Peirs sells them as I am sure others do as well. I think the elbow comes with most of the boxes that have the fooler built in but could be wrong on that. The boost elbow won't work on the hy due to the hardlined wastegate.

Thanks Barry. I was hoping for a cheap (unemployment sucks) method for getting a little more boost, w/o setting codes, or having to wait for the $$ to buy the Edge EZ.

You are correct! ;)

The effeciency is limited by the exhaust size as well as the overall turbo size.

A great reference to review is off Dave fritz'es site.

Some good reading their. ;)

Oh JJOHN check your PM.
