Hey guys,

My freinds '98. 5 24-valve with a stock HX-35 keeps blowin' boots off. He's seein' 45#'s peak boost, but even with the Comp box off and low boost pressure's they're still blowin'.

No boots on the drivers side have been a problem, the turbo side is where they're blowin', mainly the boot right off the turbo elbow, but once or twice the boot to the intercooler poped.

It started at the drag strip at Muncie, then the ride home he told me it blew-off 6 times in 250 miles. They continue to pop-off daily.

He's put new clamps on and still having problems, I told 'em about the hairspray trick, dunno if he tried it yet though. Just wondering why all of a sudden this is happenin'? Any ideas?

Thanks (I'm sure he'll buy 'ya a 6-pack, if 'ya figure it out!)

Does he have a K&N filter?

OK, can't blame it on overoiling. But still sounds like oil contamination of the mating surfaces has greased it. Try wiping down the inside of the boots and the outside of metal pieces with brake cleaner and reassemble.

I had the same problem. I just added another clamp so I have one on each side of the rim around the pipe. No more problems.

bootys

I had the same problem this weekend also on the way to Muncie. while there I found some hoses that are heavier duty and about an inch longer. the hose I found only replaces the one by the turbo. I got the hose from Van Hasely. not cheap but cheaper than fix'n every 50 miles.
