Questions about Southbend Double Disk

I installed a TAD B1-04 on my truck in Mar, I did the 100miles under 15 psi and the 100 miles under 25 psi like I was told. Since then I have had a slight leak from the aft seal ( it leaks @ start from oil press on a non spinning shaft). This last weekend I did a 250 mile trip with my 16 ft. flatbed to p/u a car for a friend. at the end of the trip I had the windows down and the turbo was whistling more than it ever had before. I now is whistling all the time it is on boost, before it wouldn't start whistling until about 5 psi of boost( that I could hear over the air w/ windows up) I have about 4-5K on it now, it has had Royal Purple in it from day one. Is it normal to take this long to break in?

Or is this something else?

I would say something else. When I got my KSB1B they said no break in period, drive it like you stole it. I've had it for quite a while now and have had no problems with no break in period. (disclaimer: NO break in period is not recommended for other weenie turbo's)

Breaking it in easy is a good idea. Youy shouldn't have a leak. How bad is it? Compressor side, or turbine?

The sound from the turbo shouldn't change when it is broken in. Something else is up. Is there a loose clamp/connction somewhere? Did you change to a different air filter setup that is louder? Did the sound change, when you changed the stack setup?

the leak is on the turbine side, the engine hasn't lost any oil that I can tell and there is no diesel in the oil that I can tell. I think that it is leaking on startup, I was told to pre lube the turbo prior to inst. to do that you have to turn the compressor or oil won't flow thru it. I think on startup, the oil pressure comes up before the compressor starts turning and it leaks. everything is the same as when I installed it. I would lose boost if I had a leak right? I can't tell haw much boost right now 'cus the TST is off to go to the dealer tomorrow to fix the A/C. Even without the TST I can still go over 25 psi but no codes. (I did this yesterday)I couldn't get it over 35 psi with the TST on 5/5 towing the trailer(used to hit almost 45 psi) I just looked at all the boots are good and haven't slipped, I torqued all the clamps down further but they weren't really loose.

I also looked at the intake cover and heater and there are no signs of a leak there either. whatever it is happened on the trip. the stock turbo did the same thing soundwise, it almost sounds Like it is spooling easier and quicker like it finally broke in completely.
