Can I get some input on these turbos. Which one is the most reliable, Toughest built and most compatible with a high hp truck that will be towed with. Thanks

I had a HTB2 that I totally beat the crap out of... Built like a Timex...

The guy who has it now loves it. I looked at it just a week ago, still perfect! He also drives his truck hard... :D

Is there a difference in the stock B1 and a Bomber? I know a guy that has a stock Schwitzer B1. But I didn't know if they were the same or not.

Well you don't think the vendors are just selling stock Schwitzer B1's do ya? I'm sure a stock version is an upgrade, as I'm looking for just that, but the vendors probly change out wheels, housings etc, but since thats trade secret information, good luck on obtaining any.

The only B1 is the one from Turbo Auto Diesel (Ken Diaz) Phoenix, Arizona.

All others are fakes or copycats or just plain stock turbos.

The ones on EBAY are not B1's.

I have one of Ken's turbo, love it, but he STARTS with a Schwitzer and does what?

The question is "What makes the B1 better than a stock Schwitzer"? different bearings, massaged wheels, machined housings, ??

I don't wanna know every spec and detail, but the areas addressed to make it better would help justify the expense **JUST MY OPINION** Other than details, I've taken other members info and experiences to make up my mind. High HP potential, nearly indestructable (at my level of power), etc

I have A U.S.B. for sale

I have a U. S. B. that I'm selling right now. I have never ran a B1 to compare it to but I have seen some high h. p. trucks running it including TS performance drag truck that had the dhra record I believe.

He starts with a Schwitzer S300 which gets new housings depending on which variation you get, new wheels depending on which variation you get, machining inside the bearing housing to add additional oil journals, then rebalancing. That is about it. Back in the day, they use to upgrade the bearings and shaft. Latest models of Schwitzers are now coming with huge shafts and beefy bearing cartridges. Don't quote me, but if you have purchased a B1 within the last 2 years, I believe the bearings and shaft are stock Schwitzer parts.

Jwilliams3 is right. Not that stock Schwitzers are not tough (I think they are tough as nails), but if it is not from TAD, it is not a B1. That is TAD's trademark name and only given to individually serial numbered turbos that have been customized by them. If you have a genuine B1, all identifying marks will have been ground off of all the housings and will be stamped with their name and the turbo's serial number on a flat spot on the front of the compressor housing. See pic attached.

I saw that post on e-bay a few days ago and sent the guy an e-mail asking how he can sell those as B1s when it still has the stock Schwitzer S300 compressor housing and the stock S300 data plate on the bearing housing in the pictures. He replied that they are the same thing. What sucks is he will sell a few and the buyers will be none the wiser. Stock Schwitzers are good turbos, but people should get what they are paying for.

THAT'S the kind of info I like to see. Thanks for the post, I appreciate those details. Probably could get it from TAD, but I also like to watch those members with the money, time and gumption try every unit out there and see where they fit in the big picture.

The B1's sold through Piers are TAD's. I was at the shop in Phoenix the day the very first order was sent to Piers. I've never seen so many pretty turbos in my life. :D

BTW, if you don't like a barking turbo, do not buy a B1... it will drive you insane. However, I have barked mine thousands of times and have never done a hint of damage (knock on wood).

I run a TAD B1 steroid for my smaller turbo, and a Big Brother for my big charger . Ken is always helpful and knowledgeable , I feel he builds the best turbos out there, my truck makes 90+ lbs of boost with about 82 lbs of drive. The transition is very smooth and predictable and makes outstanding power. The B104 is also a great stock replacement charger, making incredible power with dramatic drop in egt’s .

The owner of my comp team is a dodge dealer , and his personal demo is a 05 325 with DR Performance phase III injectors and a B104 it makes and easy and cool “EGT”

425 rwh this is a simple bolt on that uses all the stock plumbing . the dealership will put them on new trucks and this makes for a neat and stock in appearance package

TAD has at least to distributors in western canada one of them is piers and the other one is north american diesel performance(NADP). I know the owner of nadp has done a lot testing of different tad turbos says they are great but pick the right one for your application they matched mine perfect.
