I need to pick the brains of the guys that installed exhaust brakes on both 12v/24v trucks or had the turbos of both engines...

The exhaust elbows on the 94-98(incl 24v) are a two piece style, where the 99-newer are a one piece. My question is... is the 98 24v 2pc elbow the same as the 97-98 12v 2pc elbow? I was looking at the parts screen at the Dodge dealer and they sure look the same, but give two completely different prices. Yes I know Cummins offers an elbow kit.

I believe that they are the same. I took a Pac brake off of a 99 and installed it on a 97. The adaptor that was required on the 99 was not needed on the 97 as it was already part of the system. Adaptors looked the same and the brake fit perfectly. Hope that helps, but it was only an observation.

Mike, I believe the elbows are the same through '98. 5. I'm wondering about the difference in part numbers though. #ad

Thanks for the observation BZIN.

John,I'm still trying to figure out why the 98 24v and 12v had different part#'s. We're talking several hundred dollars(24v) compared to almost dirt cheap(12v),for the same part!
