I own a 99 quad cab with 11,000 miles, the entire exhaust housing and elbow rusted but the manifold is still like new, just wondered if any of your trucks did the same .
I was considering a ceramic coating like jet hot or HPC. Thanks for any input on this.

Yeah, that's pretty much the norm. If you don't want to spray anything on it, there is an alternative. Go to the Geno's Garage link and I believe it's under engine accessories, but if not just check each category and you will find an exhaust manifold blanket. It looks pretty sharp in the picture.

You're on the right track, John. Geno's Garage sells the Hitco turbo/exhaust blanket for the 12v and 24v engines. This accessory is one of the best I have EVER purchased! Not only does this exhaust blanket dress up the rusty exhaust manifold and turbo housing, it reduces engine noise and underhood temperatures as well. After driving for several hours, you can place your hand on top of the blanket without burning your hand. I was absolutely amazed at how well the blanket fit, covering the top and right side of the manifold and turbo housing. The best part was that it took less than five minutes to install. Even Greg Whale would appreciate that (reference Greg Whale's column TDR issue 22) Really. . five minutes! This is coming from a guy (me) who normally spends hours on a five minute job. If you monitor this site Greg, I've gotta tell ya, I almost died laughing about the part where you said that even your license plate didn't bolt right on. I love it! Way to go Whaler!

PS: I've been a subscriber to FOUR WHEELER magazine for approximately 20 years and have appreciated your articles very much while you were with FOUR WHEELER. I now enjoy your articles in TRUCK TREND magizine as well as the TDR.
