Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) what turbo?

My stocker broke the turbine shaft a couple of days ago :( I'm getting ready to tear the engine down to make sure there aren't any pieces in the cylinders. If everything checks out I'm thinking about getting a B-1-2 turbo from Piers. Anybody had any experience with this turbo? Also, any estimates on what my hp would be with this turbo, assuming my truck isn't badly damaged? My mods are in my sig line.

I'd say you'll be right around 400 RWHP with the plate full forward and the B-1-2!! Oo. Oo.

I don't think any part of the turbo made it to the engine but i'd look real hard at the intercooler as that'll stop most of the debris. Also, take a good look at the intercooler boots to see if they sruvived.

I've got about 1200 miles on my B-1-2-EX3 and it's a nice upgrade from the HX35/16 i had on it. Spools up as fast as the stock turbo, dropped my EGT's about 75 degrees (still not enough :( ) and boy does that thing SCHREEEEEK when you get into it! :-laf Oo. I went with the EX3 housing (non-wastegated only) so i could keep my elbow mount PacBrake.

Brian :D

BTW, care to tells us your turbo blew up??????????????????????? :)

While I tend to agree that parts getting to the engine is rare, it does happen. A fellow member and friend, DRAWSON, ended up rebuilding his engine because of turbo parts that made it to the cylinders when his HX55 (I believe it was) fragmented on him a few years ago. So it does happen. However, rather than tearing down the engine you may want to first remove the head and inspect the pistons and cylinders. That should determine if a rebuild is needed. Anything making that far would likely leave its mark.

Of course, if the turbine wheel was effectively in tact and all the parts of whatever was forward of the break were found, it may not be an issue. But pulling the intercooler and shaking it out is a good idea.

FWIW,

Good news! i took the head off and the cylinders were clean. The head checked out too. Now all I have to do is clean the intercooler and slap a turbo on. Thanks the help.
