Anybody got any idea how a turbo from a 3rd gen truck would perform on one of our trucks? Iwill have a chance to pick one up cheap after Christmas. Someone I know is getting an HX40 put on theirs and I can buy the old one cheap. Not sure exactly what the turbo is. It's got a tiny exhaust housing with a big 4" outlet on it. The truck is an 04. I think Holset refers to the turbo as a HE341. Is that like an HY35?

The truck only has about 20k on it. I've seen it hit 38psi before.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm considering putting my take off on a friends 92. Why wouldn't it work? It's supportive of 300 hp on my truck, why not 160 on his? That's how I look at it.

The 3rd gen turbo turns the opposite direction from the 1st gen's I believe. It would all depend on whether you have the room to mount it that way and feel like moving your exhaust, etc.

It appears that the rotation is clockwise when looking in the inlet. Is this what you meant, or is it something else? Or are you just checking to see if I am paying attention. :-laf

This is the key sentence. I understand it would be a little work but how about functionality? Is a 9cm housing too small despite the wastegate? Why would it be on a first gen and not a third?

Better take some good looks at it. Seems like the cold side has a heck of a different outlet, and would take some fabbing to get it to meet up with our IC piping. This is just from my blurry memory of pics of it. Plus downpipe would be some more fabbing, forget about ever going back to a 16 housing or up, unless you can cut and weld it back together I imagine. Then a 9cm housing?? Probly not a great idea for OUR 1st gen motor. Were not trying to meet emission standards. I'd think even on a stock 4bt in your Bronco, you'd see some high egt's. JMO, I don't have much experience with the new motor or turbo, just blowing out my ... horrible memory bank. .
