I have seen it on ebay and on dtr but have yet to hear about someone actually using either product. I would say if you are that worried about exhausting more gas jump up to an Hx40 or bigger turbo with the true 4" outlet. I could be wrong but I would guess that even with this elbow you would reach the limits of the hx35 just as quickly. If it was that great someone surely would have done this before.

OK, so what is the difference between the HX40 and my stock turbo? I assume it's an HX35. I'm what you might call "turbo challenged". It's still mostly a mystery to me, so here are some probably dumb questions:

Is it simply a larger exhaust housing?

Simple bolt on replacement?

What can I expect for boost numbers?

What is a boost elbow? Will I need a one? What does it do?

I'm planning on getting the Edge-EZ as well.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In theory I think it is a god product but at the price they want you are a good ways to buying a bigger/better turbo. JMHO

With what you have and only an ez your factory hx35 will work great. You won't need to upgrade your turbo. I think the ez comes with a boost elbow? (not sure but I know the comp does) The boost elbow fools the wastegate to think the turbo is producing less boost so that the wastegate doesn't open as soon. Thus you can get more boost before the wastegate opens. If you are going to tow alot and egts become a problem you can upgrade the exhaust housing on the hx35 to keep temps in check.

As far as the Hx40 it is a larger holset turbo. It is bolt on with a different downpipe. Boost depends on your application.

I am no expert by any means. Search forums and read all you want about hx40s and hx35 upgrades.

Thanks for the info. Here's the plan. Get the Banks elbow, 4" exhaust, and Edge Comp. I can always run the comp at a lower setting.

Keep the stock turbo for now, until my piglet bank grows up. It's always wanted to be a big piggy, but I think I got the runt of the liter. Then get the HX40, clutch, and injectors.

Does the combination sound resonable? I do a fair amount of towing w/ a 30ft GN horse trailer on weekends, about 12k miles per year.

Isenus,

Stop by at the PA Meet -n- Greet and we'll show you first hand some of the goodies that you can add to that truck!

The more the merrier I say. :)

Too much money for the gain. You would be better off spending the money on a larger exhaust housing. The problem with either if you plan on upgrading the turbo at some point anyway, I would personally save the money at this time and put it toward a larger turbo later. You can always run your Comp an a setting the the stock turbo, in stock trim, can handle.

Isenus another option is a good hybrid turbo such as the Dodgezilla. It bolts in place of the factory turbo but provides a nice improvement in EGTs and performance, and the price isn't too bad either.
