I have a 2000 4x4 auto. quad cab dooley. It has only 12,000 miles and the only mod i have on it is the stage 2 dd kit. As soon as i put the kit on every time it reaches max boost (around 30 psi) it blows the turbo hose off at the same place (where it comes off the turbo and goes down to the intercooler). Has anyone else had this problem? How do i fix it? It pisses me off when i have to pull off the side of the interstate and re-mount this hose. I can't use the cruise anymore because I have to manually regulate the boost pressure. Never happend before the kit. Are there any aftermarket hoses out there?

Get a small black zip tie and sinch it down with that. Should do the trick. Thats what I did to mine.

I believe that the 2001 or 2001. 5 have a new & improved clamp. After a couple of road side interludes with the boost hoses I tightend them enough that if hoses want to slip the clamps they will castrate themselvs #ad
and when that day comes They will be replaced with silicon hoses and some BIG TRUCK stout heavy duty castrators. #ad

Chad, how is the zip tie going to prevent the hose coming off of the turbo outlet from moving? I am not talking about the boost refernce port hose.

Mr. B,
My truck did the same thing numerous times, not every time I hit 30 pounds boost but many times. I even went so far as buying a new hose ($78. 00) at the parts counter. When I removed the old one I found the inside of the hose and the metal tube was coated with oil, probably from my first oil changes as the Jiffy Lube joint. I cleaned everything up with lacquer thinner and reinstalled the old hose and haven't had a problem since. That's been about 20,000 miles or so. I don't know what clamps are on the 2000 models but be careful not to over tighten. On one of my roadside fixes I repositioned the hose tightened it a little to much and about 1/4 mile down the road it blew. I was able to find four cheesy clamps at a rest area gas station and with a little afro-engineering I was able to get down the road to a Cummins shop and buy some good ones.
Good Luck
Arlan

The original Mr. B says, Go down to your local auto parts store and buy a 2-1/2" -4" ring clamp and get to skrewing. try Home Depot for $. 65 per ring.

Wooops. Soory, I thought you were talking about the boost hose. Well, if you have any problems with that, you know what to do now #ad

It has happened twice. The first time I was towing my 5er up a 6% grade on I40. I took the truck the following morning to the local Dodge dealer 50 mile away and they put the clamp back on the hose ant tioghtened it down. Later that same day further East it blew partially off again on a steep hill. The following morrning when the turbo was cool I put the clamp on carefully, holding it so it was square to the hose ant to the turbo pipe. I then made certain it was really tight. I towed another 1000+ miles with no repeat. I do not expect a repeat and will not be concerned unitil I start towing again in the Spring.
The Dodge dealer told me that this is a common problem on Dodge and Ford diesel trucks.

Mr. B,when I had problems with my hoses blowing off,it was,the connection piece,(metal tube between Turbo and Intercooler),was installed backwards at the factory, and,my Turbo oil seals were leaking,(slightly,Turbo was replaced under warranty),up till I discoverd these problems,It drove me nuts!!!!(many times pulling my race car trailer,at the side of the road, fixing hose. Just a few more things to check, Dave

I just had the aluminum elbow ( the one "v"clamped to the compressor side of the turbo) off of my truck yesterday. The mating surface for the rubber hose end had a lot of the clearcoat that Dodge puts on everthing. I had the blow-off problem last fall, but after removing all traces of the clear coat before reassembly I doubt I have that problem again. #ad
