I just bought a used Aurora 2000 made by ATS. it has a part tag on it says Turbo Engineering Corp. part # 320-203478. What do I have? I thought ATS made their own stuff. I'm not upset about it, I'm happy to have the upgrade, just want to know what I have under the hood. thanks for an help.

Did a little hunting around on the internet and this is what I can come up with. Turbo Engineering Corp. is out of Calf. and is in some way owned or part of Garrett. Going to Garrett on the web you can find that Garrett has three engineering houses for Dodge, GM, and Ford in the US. ; Advanced Turbo Systems Inc (ATS), Gale Banks Engineering, and BD Brake.

Thus your ATS turbo could have been built for ATS by Garrett in the sister company Turbo Engineering Corp. Seems like the Turbo world is all related?!

Only from what I have read, there are actually only a few turbo manufacturers. Sort of like a green bean cannery that makes all sorts of brand names that get put on the label. But the beans and the cans still come from the same cannery and just the label is different.

It's like Jim said, there are few companies around anymore that actually manufacture all the parts they sell. Imagine the cost in setting up the machining to make turbos! I wouldn't worry about it, the 2000 is a great turbo, I love mine, and you can upgrade to twins later if you want!

While we're on the topic of Aurora Turbos, does anyone know if the Aurora 2000 will fit on the Dodge recommended Jacobs exhaust brake on a 2001 3500? The ATS website says that it will fit the factory exhuast piping, but there is no mention of the brake itself. The jake is an exact replacement for the exhaust elbow removed to install it. I haven't been able to get a straight answer on this one.

Thanks.

Call Eric at ATS to make sure, but the Aurora 2000 has the option of an HX35 elbow or HX40 flange, so I would imagine it would work.

I'd imagine it would work for exactly the same reason, but my friend had one retailer (not ATS themselves) selling the Aurora say it was a no go without removing the original Jake and replacing with an aftermarket brake. Sounds like he's trying to sell more parts. I'll have him call ATS today. He's emailed them twice and they won't respond. Thanks!
