I'm new to TDR, but have been reading alot of the posts the last few weeks. Here are some of my questions before I fork out some more $$$ into my beloved money pit! This is a great site! Thanks for all the info. you all have posted, it's been a lot of help!
03 3500 srw, lwb, 4x4 crew cab 6spd, TST, 2pcs manf. , afe stage 2, TAG, 4"ss Magnaflow exh. , Banks big air intake, Southbend clutch, amsoil fluids, magtech cover, BD short shift. , 315/65/18 Toyos, daily driver.
What is the diff. between the sps62/64/14 and 6280/6480? What does the 80 or last two numbers stand for, not sure if it's 80 or not seen 62_?_? on another post. Which turbo will keep lower egt's while towing and maintain best spool up for daily driver. Will a larger intercooler effect spool up or anything else? Just trying to get some info. on the what, how's, and why's of each.
What is the diff. between the BD, spearco and Banks intercoolers. What makes one better or worse than the other?
Is it safe to set the TST torque higher than the hp setting and if so how much more torque over hp is safe for towing up to 25,000lbs or so? What would be the max safe settings for towing 10-12,000lbs. and when empty?
I recently cut out the plastic in the fender well in front of the air filter to make a bigger openning. I noticed alot less smoke at WOT, but the filter did get a little wet the last time it rained. Is there something I can I can do to protect the filter a little better? Has anyone tried the induction hood set up to the filter? Does it make a diff. ?
Would heat shield/raps around the turbo, afe airbox and torque tube help to produce denser air to increase hp. ?
Finally, who to go to for the best price on a package deal for the turbo and intercooler set up?
