turbo lag with my VA

i have a 2000 ram quad cab sb 4x4 auto. i just put my va in with the boost fooler and elbow. the truck has come alive, wxcept for one small problem. turbo lag off the line. if i floor it from a standstill, the truck just goes like it did before the va untill about 1600 rpm or so, then it really takes off with a powerful surge. while driving, as long as i keep it over that rpm, shes got big balls. its only off the line she bogs down. the people at bd told me this is normal. i'm seeing 26 ibs boost, and truck runs ok, no more smoke than before the box. anybody have any suggestions that can help. the truck is leased, so i dont want to put crazy money into it.
