Is it realistic to think that the use of an exhaust brake could increase EGT's? I have a friend with a 2002 Ford Diesel with a Banks brake who recently cooked his turbocharger. He claims that the incresed fueling from his six gun set up and the engagement of the brake when descending caused the meltdown of the turbo. He thinks my pac brake will ultimately raise the EGT's of a regular descent by restricting airflow and that could possibly damage the turbo. As the engagement of the brake coincides with the release of the throttle, I am not convinced, but would be interested to hear if this is even a reasonable possibilty-Anyone care to share their thougts?
