New Mobil 1 Truck & SUV - NOT for diesels

I am installing a borg warner s300 turbo and the actuator rod hits the turbo oil drain. I replaced the hard pipe with some rubber hydraulic hose but it is still rubbing but the rod will move. Can I safely reduce the diameter of the drain hose in that area say down to 5/8 or 1/2, it is now 3/4. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I was told the drain is gravity so as long as it seems it will take a flow, should be OK... . Maybe not smaller than 5/8"

On my HTB2, I also had the actuator rod vs. oil drain clearance issue. I started by denting the drain tube, but that didn't sit well with me. I then ended up bending the actuator bracket and the 'gate lever to get the rod away from the tube to get the rest of the clearance. There's actually quite a bit of room to tweak those parts. Just be careful not to bind things up at the lever/rod connection.

Thank you very much for the link to that thread. I am going to try the cummins flex hose. However since I made up a short tube and a 90 with 1/2 reducers on them I am going to try it for a little while. I am going to run a short 1/2" hose 3" or so in the area of the rod and the expand back out to 3/4" at the 90. I got silicone hose at napa.

I got my initial clearance by bending the bracket and considered slotting the holes in the mount so I could move the rod over but then I started thinking, $900. 00 turbo $30. 00 drain pipe which to I want to experiment with.

Thanks to all for the help. TDR to the rescue

I guess it's all in how you look at it. I didn't want to mess with the oil path through my $1,200 turbo. The brackets are cheap.
