O. K this morning the temps were about 6 Degrees out when I started the truck. Not plugged in as usual, went to high idle ... then 3 cylinder run for 15 minutes.

Hoped in and went off to work . . no problems no smoke ... running just the same as always.

5 Hours later hoped in leaving work, started it, went to high idle and I noticed a bit of blue whisping by the truck. Figured ehh it's cold. Gave it some time and started driving out the parking lot. By the time I made it 200 feet I was POURING blue.

Drove it home (Mainly OFF boost) and when off boost Smokes like a *******. On boost it's normal sooty for what I have in it. (Edm's DTT blah blah GARRETT Stage III roller bearing turbo)

I just got it home so I have NOT poped the cap to look at the anti-freeze for oil, Nor the outlet side of the turbo piping.

I am leaning twards Head Gasket as off boost is fine, at idle it is BAD, under boost = O. K.

Reason I am thinking this is under no throttle / coast we don't make vacuum to draw oil in (Doesn't mean oil pressure can't override cyl presssure tho) But with the exhaust brake I can throw blue smoke like a Blue Angel :-laf

I guess I gotta go an look at what is UPstream of the head (I. E Turbo piping) before I get too nuts here.

On one of my turbo's I blew an oil seal and oil poured out the exhaust. I am not sure if that is your problem. I simple wipe inside the exhaust pipe will tell you.

Its probably the Charger

Cause at idle oil pressure exceeds exhaust pressure as boost climbs it over whelms the oil pressure,it possibly is a clogged or kinked oil return line from the charger.

Wow just to update (Sorry I forgot to) I am leaning twards my Crakcase vent tube freezing closed from condensation. I figure from just a couple short trips (Less than 3 miles) that week the condensation built up enough to block it off partially.

Once it warmed up above freezing (got close anyhow) and the truck fully warmed up it stopped very quickly. And clue 2 was the oil residue that squished out of one corner of my valve cover gasket.

Unless your vent was nearly plugged already for some other reason it doesn't seem likely to me base on my experience but I don't know. I had mine freeze solid one evening while idling but this was after driving two full days in mostly sub-zero temps with a 3/4" tube extending clear over the rear axle away from any heat. I assume you have the normal 24 valve vent? Mine is a 12 valve so isn't the same. I didn't have any smoke issues when it froze. Mine just pushed the dip stick out a little and blew 7 qts. of oil out the dipstick tube until I lost oil pressure. That sure made a mess and scared the H out of me until I figure out what happened. I got under the truck that night and cut the vinyl hose up near the engine and finished my trip. I'm glad it didn't happen while I was driving or I may have blow gaskets/seals.
