Gentleman,

Me thinks I have a Problem with my stock Turbo. I don't know which one I have but it came on an 01 HO. Halset I think. T o the point, there is end play in the shaft , compressor side, and a slight oil film on the clean side of the system. Question, is it more cost effective to rebuild or to replace with a new/rebuilt turbo?? Also, I think that the waste gate is "stuck" as I can't move same in or out, no play at all. Gauge says 20" working it hard. I value yall's opinion, any comments welcome and considered. Who would be a good source for the parts/ stuff I'd need, tks guys,

dg

dg,

The play that is worrisome in the tubo is front to back, all turbos have some side to side play. Do the fins look like they have contacted the housing?

You could do all of the options you mention above... A new HX35 (which is what is on your truck if it is an HO) will run $650. Then you have the option of having the turbo rebuilt. Another route you could go is with an upgraded turbo, but which one would depend on you current/future mods.

tks Doug,

No, the fins have'nt rubbed on the housing yet, but I still have'nt figured the oil film deal yet, seals?? Went to your site and ck'd out prices for what I'd need and was happily surprised with the offerings. I'm running 300 (+- hp) but I am only able to pump 20lbs of boost, factory, and I think it should a bit more??

tks again,

dg

Hey jetpilot I was just snooping around your site too and saw the phat ******* :-laf :-laf Anyone using that beast? 132 mm inducer :--) dang!!

DGerth, a little bit of oil on the compressor side of the turbo is normal. How much oil are you seeing?

Your Dr. performance III Module is capable of boost fooling, from what I understand. The kit just did not come with a boost elbow to make the wastegate open later. Check out the classifieds for an adjustable boost elbow or check out Rip at Source Automotive, www.sourceautomotive.biz. This should get your boost where you want it.

Tks guys,

From what ya'll say I maybe don't hav as grandiose a prob as I thought, which is a good thing! Not much oil just a film and if that's the norm, COOL!

I can live with it if the 'ol 6B can. 300K here I come! All who respond, tks for broadenin my horizons.

There are a couple guys that will be installing one this spring... . No real data as of yet but I would expect to see a few pullers running them this year!
