Archived Turbo Question about 98 24v Dodge

Hello everyone,

I currently have a problem with my Turbo (I think it has the HX-35 on it now, whatever stock is), and I was looking on Ebay to reduce the $2500 repair price the dealer quoted me. I was just wondering if anyone knew if the HX-35W is readily interchangeable with the one that comes on the 98. 5 Ram. If it is this could save me some money. Also, if anyone knows of any inexpensive places to get a turbo that will work, please let me know.

yes, the turbo will interchange... I'd just buy a good used turbo and swap it on.



you can do a turbo swap on these trucks in a couple hours tops if you take your sweet time... when I put my HX40 on, it took about 30min.

Turbo changes are quick and simple. Just do your self a favor, start spraying everything down with PB-Blaster for about a weak. Also, the bolts will come out easier with a hot engine, just don't burn yourself.



Also, if you are looking for a stock turbo, I am sure you can find one for less than $2,500. You can get them rebuilt for less. Also, depending upon where you are located, you can check out http://www.dieselinjection.net, they are 15 min outside of Pittsburgh, I know they have turbos in stock. They mostly do larger engine rebuilds, but he also stocks many smaller parts.

I have my stock turbo collecting dust on a shelf here.

Taken out of the truck with about 15K miles on it. Swapped it with an HX-40.

If you want it it's yours.

Altough shipping might be in the 250-300 bucks range...
