Turbo question?

A friend of mine has a 01 2500 5sp with hx35 turbo,he's wanting more power but he dosent know how much. So just to tease him (bombing bug)I thought about adjusting his wastegate to allow more boost. Will this make any more power on a stock truck with no extra fueling? How much boost will a stock truck make with a bombed wastegate?I read somewhere on TDR that only 98 and 99 models will set an overboost code and that 00 and 01 models wont, is this true?If I can give him a little more power then maybe the bug will bite him. TIA

Can someone fill us in about the over boost code on the 00-01's. . Will it set a code if boost pressure is over 20. 5??? I have heard that the 02's will not set the code. . but not for sure. . someone fill us in... I undersand no real HP gain. . thanks

Yes it will set an over boost code. . At around 23 psi... and the VP44 injection pump will start defueling when it sees the higher boost... . On all 24V trucks... .



The best thing to do on all 24V trucks is to install a Box like the PowerEdge EZ... ... Very easy install 5-10 Min and it will increase Boost, Horse Power, Mileage Set no codes and Put a smile on your face... . BUT BEWARE it is hard to stop there!!

Thanks Kurt. . I have ordered a box and it should be here about Tuesday. . that should give me some really boost numbers. .

I sure can tell when it starts to defuel with the little higher boost pressures without a Boost Module.

Now to get my fuel system set up for the DD UFM... . Thanks

kurt, thanks for saving me an a$$ chewing, and my friend a trip to the dealer to have a code removed. I will be giving you a call about a b1 turbo, depending on which injectors I choose.
