Then how is the turbo changed?

As my understanding is,

It's an HX-35, with a '40 compressor wheel.

Just like the '04. 5's (600's), except the '600's have a 9cm exhaust housing.

This combo is really great. It has weaknesses, and strengths. I don't recomend it very much, but if you are on a budget, then it's a good alternative.

JSHAW,,,

It's hard to believe you have no EGT Problems with Mach 3's, and a TST. I had some issues with my PDR 40/16, I was running bigger injectors, but still had issues.

Has anyone gotten a Dodgezilla fit up on a 3rd Gen? If so what was involved and is it sold with the right pieces/parts?

I'm happy with my Bomber Lite for now but it won't be on my rig forever, when my HP goes up. Always thinking about the next BOMB :)

I have thought of the PDR40 and Jammer but I'm not sure I want to go that far. My tentative plan is to settle around 350-375 rwHP with this truck but want good driveability.

The Dodgezilla is attractive, but about $400 more than the PDR35-12 if you compare them with wastegated 12cm housings from the prices I've seen on the 'net. For the price of a DZ w/wastegated housing, $100 bucks more gets me the PDR40-16 which is wastegated and includes the downpipe, and I know I won't have high drive pressures on the exhaust side which probably isn't the case with the Dodgezilla with its smaller outlet. But in terms of prices we're talking 2nd Gen applications here, prices = ?? to set up on a 3rd Gen.

Vaughn,

They are not making on for the 3rd Gen's yet. I email them yesterday and go a reply today. It will be sometime in the future. When? Who knows?

I have some reservations about the 40's turbo lag and my 48RE. As you remember, I have a PDR 40 setting in my garage that was suppose to go on the White Obsession, however I never put it on.

Unless I am missing something, there doesn't seem to be alot of difference between the Dodgezilla and a PDR35 other that a larger compressor wheel.

I guess one other benifit is the use of the hx40 downpipe, you get the full 4" out the back of the exhaust housing compared to the smaller hx35 cast elbow to downpipe. If that matters alot I dunno.

Bob I forgot about the '40 you were going to try. Was it Piersified? I agree turbo lag would be worse on the '40. You might ask Piers if he's tried sticking a PDR35 in a 3rd Gen yet, I know he's done 3-4 PDR40s so far.

Muddy's Jammer spooled well on his truck, not like stock but acceptible to me, considering his DTT'd Auto and we were at 3000 feet. He has DD2s and did make a nice puff of smoke (but he was hammering it too).

Zach,

I thought with the Dodgezilla you used your standard pipe, not the 40's 4" pipe.

I don't think Muddy has gotten the DTT magic yet. I know he was talking about it a couple of week ago, but I don't think it's done yet. I may be wrong, that would be the first time! :D

The pics at the top of the page(2) show a Dodgezilla adapted to a 40 downpipe, but I guess that isnt mandatory, just if they're switching from a 40. Hmm I suppose somebody needs to find out the dia of the compressor wheel on a DZ and a PDR35. Hey Bob W. does the DZ use a 40 compressor housing or a 35 compressor housing?

the compressor housings are the same... it's machined to match the compressor wheel. I've got an H1C compressor housing on my HX40

the dodgezilla is an HX35/40 hybrid... 40 compressor side, 35 turbine side... so it will use the stock style exhaust setup. no need for a different downpipe.

Merrick,

If you ever get a chance to get out to long island you can drive my truck check out both pyros and maybe find alittle less hard to believe. Seriousely though Ireally don't have any real heat problems.

LOL . . . yes he's already gotten it BOMBed by DTT :) Had it done it Utah 3-4 weeks ago. It shifts really nice, good and firm, and he has the smart controller and all.

Maybe "Budget" is the wrong word? I was trying to say that the turbo has some good value for what it is, and the turbo's it is competing against. It does get better, but not untill you hit a substantial increase in cost.

JSHAW,

Are you going to TiM ?

I'll be there,, maybe we could exchange rides...

No vacation this year, I've got an 18 year old in college and a 5 month old boy at home. Sounds like fun though.

Just to clarify, compressor housings are like exhaust housings extrnally they may be the same but internally they are different. The Dodgezilla uses the highest flowing compressor housing and compressor wheel combination. I have 23 on order, built ready to go waiting on that one special compressor housing. I could put a different part number housing on them and ship but it wouldn't be the highest flowing combination. Good things come to those who wait.

Would you check that please? Looking on web I find them to be within 35. 00 of each other.

It may help if you think of it as a HX40 with a 35 shaft.

Its nothing like the 04. 5's turbo

sorta bouncing around on this post.

thanks

Look at my post - I love mine - had for about a month... ... can run - no towing up to 120 - won't get above 1100 including a 100 mph topping of Cabbage Hill east of Pendleton on I-80!
