I know everyone here says to go to a 14/16 CM housing on our trucks. Now the questions is. Do the H1C and The HX35 take the same housing or do they have one for each make of turbo?

Would it be better to use a wastegated model housing.

The HX35 will fit the same exhaust housing as the H1C. I called PDR about that same question as I am gonna get one sometime soon.

Good glad to hear that. I had been wondering. I hadn't seen that question asked before.

Sooner or later I'll get a smaller housing. But there is no big rush.

Hi Philip,

I will try to take a stab at this. Knowing that you don't tow a whole lot or rarely move anything greater than 7K, I think that you might be better off with a 12 cm wastegated housing. You can probably get one real cheap from a 2nd gen. I think it would help the with the take off in your truck, especially with those really tall rear axle ratios. I kept the 16 cm housing because I will be towing a lot and need as much air flow as I can get. Hope that provokes a thought or two.

Hi Jeremy

With mine pulling 17 to 18 PSI right now empty. I wonder if the 12 CM might be to small. When I do tow. A lot of times it is long distance at high speed. I would be kind of learey on the 12cm at 70 mph+ with a heavy load. I'm thinking 14cm myself.

The HX35 and the H1C are virtually identical... any difference is so small that it don't really count.

I also think that if you tow and like 70 Mph + then you may well have EGT problems with a 12, wastegated or not you'll have to ease up on it and not use it fully. I had this chat with Piers last nite actually... . he pointed out that if 90% of your driving is around town, running empty etc and 10% was towing/carrying heavy at highway speeds are you willing to live with the drawback of high drive pressures and EGT's during that 10%? Makes you think... ... ... .

Bob.

I am thinking for my type of usage. The 14cm would make a better choice. The 16cm I would not waste my time going to it. I do not think the drop of 2 cm on the housing would be worth the effort.

The 12cm I think is to big of drop. When I am on the road towing most of the time I am going to Okla. They have a speed limit of 75mph. :D Right now with 18 psi and a 7k load I run out of motor at 70. :( I am going to work on that problem. MO state runs a 70 mph speed limit.

Ill. just plane sucks at 55 mph. Bird dog and CB cures that. :D

Housings on eBay

I was just perusing eBay and there are a couple of housings and turbo rebuild kit up for sale there. I think the housings were both at a buyitnow of less than $200.

I have been watching there also. Sooner or later. I'll break down a buy one.

That also is just about the price of the sponsors charge also. If I go that high for one. I'll buy one off of the TDR sponsors.
