I was just thinking..... I know... here's trouble... .

I have an HX35 turbo with a 14cm housing. I have found a local place that can/will sell me the intake housing as well as the impeller for a decient price. What would that make the turbo? What is the difference between the 35 and the 40? Anyone know the difference in the guts of the thing?

The HX 40 pinwheel (~70 different configurations I'm told) is bigger than the 35's. The intake housing of the 35 then has to me enlarged to accomodate the larger wheel. (got a lathe big enough to turn the housing?)

I had the same thought and wanted to go that route, but gave up.

The HX40 compressor housing and pinwheel are a bolt on replacement no special equipment needed and you can do it yourself if you are handy. I did it and the increase in the quanity of air supplied is up about 25-30% and dropped my EGT's by about 100*. Be sure to get a gasket set about $8. 00 compressor housing and wheel about $200. 00 from your local turbo rebuilder or check on E-Bay they are there for $180 and that is where I got mine.

:) That's what I wanted to hear. I found a local place that will sell me the compressor housing and the wheel for about $130. I may have to do that. I also need an EGT guage.....
