Have had a request to post turbo readings on new Pyro install, so here they are:

Stock ETH, 62* ambient temp, 7000 ft altitude, running empty.

65 mph- 600*, 8 psi boost
75 mph- 800*, 10 psi boost

Pulling Monument Hill, started at 65 mph then floored the go pedal. Got almost to the top
going 92 mph and hit 1300* and had to back out of it.

I'm hoping the EZ install will change the timing enough to get the WOT temps down...
or maybe it's going to require a 4" exhaust system?

Doug, What side of Monument did you go up ? and where did you start the run at ? When (if ever) my gauges arrive I will have to try the same hill and see if my twelve valver will do it as well ! #ad

Doug, I had similar results when my truck was stock with just gauges. I could easily hit 1250F pre-turbo while pulling a steep grade. I did my testing on two grades in town, 17% and 25%, unloaded. After I installed the EZ I found that, while my egt's cilmbed faster, I could not obtain a egt. reading over 1100F. My exhaust, turbo and injectors were also stock at that time. Hope this helps.

I just put my pyro in over the weekend. My post turbo readings are 400-500 at 70mph. I found that shifting out of OD (into 3rd) will drop the temps. - even on an uphill grade. Lower RPMs (under 1900) under load = higher temps. Higher RPMs (like around 2200) = lower temps. I'm still learning about it. This weekend will tell me more when I tow my trailer.

Bigsaint- Glad to hear that about the EZ install. Was getting worried about towing with one. I wonder how DC protects the stock
engine with high EGT's ?

I had the same question. I could not believe that my truck was seeing high egt's with no load and stock. How much would it cost DC to put in a pyro gauge. On the same thought, what's up with a turbo equipped vehicle not having a boost gauge. My little Phord Probe GT even had one of them( I think it maxed out at 10 psi). BOMB sensibly and you won't have a problem. See the sig. below, still don't get over 1050F with the bigger injectors on the same grades.

You hit 1300 post turbo going up monument hill empty. OH ****! I hope that was just a misprint and you really mean pre-turbo. I can top monment at near triple digit speeds and never get above 750 post-turbo.

My bad, I just read your post again. Haven't had enough caffine yet!

Gonna put the EZ in this week, run that test
up Monument hill again, and see what the temps will be this time...

Good thing have the gauges mounted- I thought
that DC had these Cummins running so that any dummy #ad
could run them.
