Ok guys... here's my scenario. I am trying to remove the HY-35 in the wifes truck so that I can install an hx-35 in place of it.

How the heck do I get off the bottom two bolts where the turbo housing bolts onto the manifold? I can't fit a wrench on the bolt. I have also tried a ratchet with a long extension in which I got on the bolt, but I can't seem to break them two loose. After 4,600 miles, them bolts feel like they are welded to the manifold.

The only way that I was able to get the top two to brake loose, was to put a wrench on the bolt and pound on the wrench with a hammer. After a couple of hits they broke loose..... but geesh. . them bottom two are a bugger...

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Kev

Some penatrating oil, or maybe a little heat compliments of a small torch. Better put some anti-seize on those bolts when you do the swap... just in case you have to break them free again.

Depending on the length of your arms, you may get better leverage from the bottom or through the right front wheel well. Do you have an impact wrench or breaker bar? I got mine loose originally by slipping a 1 inch closed wrench over the handle of the one on the bolt and pulling like crazy - that was after a liberal soaking with penetrating oil! Best of luck :D

you should be able to get th forward one with a socket and extension , but the rear can only be gotten with a 15mm open end wrench , make sure it a good quality wrench , they are tight but a little weight behind it

Well guys. . still no luck on them bottom two bolts. I tried to get the impact gun in there... but it is just to large. I tried the Air Ratchet... . no luck. It just didn't have the strength behind it to budge the bolts.

So now for the Penetrating fluid trick... LOL

I'll give this a try tonight and see what happens.

Thanks for the info guys

get them real hot and then soak them with something real cold.

imediately followed by trying to break them loose.

A trick here is put your penetrating oil in the fridge. not the freezer. LOL

use a small torch to heat them and then shock 'em with the cold.

works every time. :D
