Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) turbo replacement

I've got a oil seal leak on my turbo "exhaust side" to minimize down time the purchase of a new HX35 is in order. My question is sould I stay with the stock HX , my truck is stock because I don't want to jeopardize the engine of its durability and dependability. It's a 99 service truck and weighs 11000 lbs all the time. If there's a product or upgrade thats inhances the durability and dependability , I'm listening. Thank you for any help.

For a stock truck the HX35 is hard to beat.

I would stick with it...

Buy a new one then have your old one rebuilt...

HX35 is hard to beat for up to 325 or so RWHP. I ran mine hard (35-7 psi) before upgrading to the Dodgezilla. MOF I think there are some around the shop here somewhere.



I expect a "tuned" 35 would spool nicer and last even longer, but you might not want start down that path.



But if'n you did--the RV275 injector and a 60-horse box usually improve economy and of course power. Just couldn't stop myself there.



And for ultimate reliability with a 24v you need to monitor fuel pressure and keep a VP44 and LP on hand at all times. They go out when they take a mind to--very hard to predict.

Yes, even on a stock truck you definantly watch fuel pressure. If you did want to go with a 60hp box I guarentee you that engine will be just as reliable. I've been running all my mods and not a problem. Good luck
