You have to look at cost to purchase vs cost of savings. Kind of like the bed covers people sell for $500. Their claim to fame is fuel consevation. This is true, but exactly how long will it take for this bed cover to pay for itself, then start saving me money?

We ran into this at work with our turbos. The machined cone shape for air entry was definately a plus compared to nothing, however, the price it cost us to have the turbos made this way vs the actual benefit was no where near comparable.

The gas engines did however benefit greatly from this design due to the location of the carbs outside of the inlet for the turbos.

You might seriously explore the idea of expanding this operation to cover rice rocket style turbo cars. Find out what the most popular size turbo inlet is, make something up, and see if it sells. There are many, many more gas turbo cars out there than 5. 9 Cummins. And there is evidence already that shows a contraption like this works best on gas powered vehicles with turbos. Just a though. Remember your redneck budies at the TDR when you hit it big from this deal and move to the country club!

After driving for a few more days with the new ring, I am pleased. The turbo does spool up better. Low end power also seems to be improved.
I guess it was worth the $6. 00 for the Aluminum. #ad

Oh, and the 10 hrs. on the lathe. #ad

Chad,

While this is way off subject. I thought the fuel savings from a bed cover was considered a perk... Not its claim to fame.

For me, that was the last thing on my list of reasons to buy one.

All kidding aside, your example is on target. ROI (Return On Investment).

Sometimes this isn't measured in dollars and cents. But rather by the number of times your face cracks a smile.

I've been thinking about this thread for a couple of days now - couldn't get the picture of the ring with nozzle out of my mind. That's the best place to inject propane I've seen yet. It would probably require recalibration of most propane systems to work properly, but what a great place to put the nozzle.

well after putting the cone on my milage returned where it was before putting the 35" tires on. This is for the last 6 tanks. About 1. 5 MPG agin. This will vary with driving style, drivetrain configuration, and BOMBings.
