THE REAL QUESTION IS

Do you like turbo whistle? if so take it out it just makes more whistle (noise) (music) If you don't like the sound you can always put it back in

happy motoring :p

just took mine out

With the stock airbox on there's a subtle increase in turbo whine when you remove the silencer. Ecarney nice truck by the way.

silencer ring

IF you like high pitched whine/squeal, take it out. some folks have said it gets old on a long trip towing. mine fell out soon after the truck got home. i like the sound of the turbo "whine" so it has stayed out. if you take it out, be sure to clean the intake of the turbo out carefully to remove any aluminum "crumbs". it's hard to get it out without knocking off a few small bits of aluminum. might not do any damage, but then again... .....

With the ring out, I think it sounds good with the stock filter in place. I just put my K&N back in, and it is too much. I can only imagine the sound when towing. Later...

When the boost gets above around 15psi when towing, it quits whistling and just makes a loud wooshing sound like a jet engine. As easy as it is to remove or replace the silencer ring, try it and see. some like it, some don't. You can always put it back in in about 5min.

I'm always pulling, I like the whistle. Lets the fords and Dmaxes know whats passing them. :D
