The resonator's purpose is to mute or dampen resonant sound frequencies - hence its name. Specifically, resonators are tuned to stop "drone" tendencies in the factory exhaust system.

The factory resonator that came off mine is straight through. It and the factory muffler are in the garage right now.

I didn't realize you had a 4" exhaust on yours. Are you coming to the next LSTDR get-together, and if so, could I hear it?

Thanks!

Duane,

I dunno - when and where is it? I can't get onto the new LSTDR website forums from either my work or home PC (it's a long story  ).

How loud should the whine be on a stock truck when removing the silencer. It didn't seem to make much if any difference in noise on my truck.

Yes sonoma county is in northern california. I live about 20 miles west of santa rosa.

So california trucks have different cat systems them our southern brothers.

firemanemt: The rest of the country does not require Cats on the 24 valve Dodge to meet EPA standards. Mine didn't have one. The resonator was straight trough. DW

Have Rip's SWWWEEEET 4" w/ Allied Muffler and no resonator. She whistles a little @ idle, and has a good whistle and tone (NO DRONE) throughout the entire rpm range... ... . I like it :D
