I have been noticing that a bunch of the "signatures" on postings have descriptions of turbo silencing rings and stuff in their glove box. First off, what is a turbo silencing ring? please don't say it is a ring that silences the turbo. #ad
What purpose does it serve? And how the heck can it be mounted in the glove box? What benefits do you get from its installation?

The turbo silencer ring fits in the intake of the turbo and is designed to reduce the noise of inrushing air into the turbo. Some owners remove the ring to make the turbo whine louder. I guess you can put it in the glove box in case you change your mind and want to reinstall it later.

You can see the ring if you take off the turbo's air inlet tube.

Kempton!!

Assuming you go into Allentown, you probably drive by my house from time to time. .

As to your question, its only purpose is to reduce turbo whistle. Me personally, I don't ever see myself putting it back in. .

I love the way it make the Cummins sound.
More or less a complement to its rumble.

But I'll keep it in the event I sell it and the next guy wants it.

Deezal, where in Allentown? I have the big green Dually that roars into town. When I eventually get the stacks on, it should be even more noticable. If you are interested, a friend of my from work just opened a shop at 2nd and Union behind Made in the Shade. They are spraying Linex bed liners. My truck was the second truck they did (I believe). I am very impressed. My last truck had the Rhino. I have nothing bad to say about Rhino, but the Linex has a somewhat different texture to it and a more uniform finish, I think.
Are there any clubs in our area? and how intensive would it be for a mechanically challenged dolt to remove the aforementioned ring?
