I've read a lot about the different sizes (volumes) of turbo exhaust housings. To be clear about it, is this referring to the housing around the exhaust impeller, or is it the square tube connecting the manifold to the turbo? Also, is there a part number to identify one from another. I haven't tried looking at all angles yet, but I can't see any ID marks on my exhaust side. If this has been covered in depth in previous posts, would someone please give me the title of it.

Does anyone know the size that came on the 1990 model year?

Thanks!

It's the housing around the exhaust impeller.

The sizes are stamped on the back side of the housing, from what I've read in other threads here. I've never actually looked at mine, but you should be able to get a small mirror and hold it behind the housing and see (in your case) "18" or "18. 5". In your case, the stock housing on your 1990 truck would be 18. 5 square centimeters.

Yep, if your Ram is not intercooled, the stock housing is 18. 5 sq. cm. The 16 sq. cm. is a direct replacement and will spool better while not giving exhaust restriction.
