Am about to start on a 1500 mile trip and also just got the cool blue hose. Would like to install it but wife is concerned about too much increased noise for the trip. Will it increase sound much? way to decrease the sound increase?

thanks Ron

i dont have the hose but my intake is strait through and it wistles like heck! unless you need the flow, id leave it off for the long trip. is fun in town but do you really want to hear the woman complain? :D if nothing else, take the stock one with you and a screw driver.

I'm waiting to buy a CBH as well, but they are currently out of stock.

Assuming that you haven't drilled any holes in your stock filter box, and that you leave the silencer ring in place, your turbo noise should be tolerable. Give it a try.

Tomeygun on this site has one on his 03. I'll tell you what that thing is loud!!

I think its louder than the old metal Torque tubes from AFE.

That's funny. I had the exact opposite opinion...

I think the overall volume is the same, but the resonant quality of the old metal AFE Torqe Tube makes the turbo whistle sound different than the CBH. With the AFE, you can hear the turbo whine even as it's spooling down at idle, plus the wheeze sound you get when the wastegate opens on the stock turbo is pretty pronounced.

With the CBH, the only time it seemed to whistle to me was on-throttle. Also the wheezing was not quite as loud. Additionally there was no engine vibration transferred to the body like my AFE did. (could have been the AFE install, but I don't know at this point)

If you have an open air filter, it will be loud. If you have a stock air box, I don't think you'll hear too much of a difference.

You could always install it and bring the stock part with you. It's only a 5 minute swap with a screw driver if you find it's too loud.

I have the CBH, been installed since this summer. I left the stock box in place, did the 4" hose mod at the same time. There is very little change in noise over the stock box, hardly detectable. It did increase my fuel economy and also throttle response. If I were you I'd throw it on without any reservations regarding noise changes. It only takes a few minutes to install, or change out if you don't like it.

I also put on the CBH and the noise increase is minimal. I have the stock airbox with pro guard 7. I have no complaints.

Who sells the CBH? Can they be bought online somewhere?

Thanks!

Remember I have an AFE filter and the 66mm turbo too...

I must say though, standing under the hood while revving and holding to 2000 rpm - Its quite loud...

As for trips, the stacks are louder

The Cool Blue Hose will make the turbo sound a little louder and most like it that way. We have not had a single complaint about the sound. Since the Cool Blue Hose is silicone it not only insulates better than hard plastic hoses, it also absorbs some of the sound. If you want to make it quieter install a Turbo Air Guide III.

Loudness will not change regardless of exhaust or intake mods... only the subject of the conversation will change. I found that after I removed the passenger seats it was ALOT quieter in the truck especially on long trips.
