There are many companies that make a shutdown timer (Greedy, HKS, CATZ, Apexi). I assume all are good products and some are reasonably priced at $85 - $90. If you are not afraid to do a little electrical work under the dash, the install shouldn't be too difficult. IMO pick the one you like the most, as they all have a slightly different look.

If you don't feel comfortable cutting away at wires under the dash, you should try the "Turbo Diesel Life Saver" from Geno's. The cost is a bit higher, but the install in wire splicing/cutting free. Except for the brake wire, if I remember correctlty.

I just installed the turbo timer from Genos garage, its a nice piece and its a simple plug in installation.
To operate it you simply push a button and youll hear a series of beeps, each beep is a minute of idle down time.

I used the Geno's Turbo Live Saver and like it. Be aware if you use it of the caution in the instructions that says "be careful when you pull the plug apart in the column to not break tabs". I did not and I broke one!!! :{ Probably would have been okay without the one tap but used a wire tie to make sure the plugs would not come apart.

I am sure there are many good quality units from others you can use too. #ad

My first add on for my '99 was the turbo lifesaver. 71K trouble free miles and use it all the time. Simple to install (plug in) and will interface with the alarm system. Worth the extra $$ to follow the KISS principal!

I've got a HKS turbo timer in my truck and installed a TD Life Saver in my dads.

Installation time was about the same. The hks took longer to find the correct wires to tap into, the TDLS took longer to remove the steering column covers and to drill holes and mount the switch & button.

I prefer the hks because you don't have to re-set it every time you stop and it has a built in "run time" timer.

OTOH if you need a "plug&play" unit the TDLS will get the job done.

turbo timer

I have one from Ispro. It shuts down on temp and not just time. it is adjustable also. It will work with your existing pyro.

I was told that there are no instructions whatsoever that come with the HKS and the Blitz timers (other than Japanese). Where did you get the info to hook it up?

Does the ISSPRO unit mount in the cab? It looked pretty big to me. That's why I am looking at the Blitz DTT DC II. It will look good mounted on the dash and I can control it inside.

The ispro unit is about the size of 2 or 3 packs of cigerettes stacked together. it can be mounted anywere, but it is easiest under the dash. That way you don't have to run a lot of wire to get to the ignition switch. It takes trial and error to get it set, but once it is set were you want it, it is hasle free.

RO'neal,

My Hks came with universal installation instructions. You have to probe wires going to the steering column to find the right ones.

Maybe someone told you there are no instructions because they are clearly not written by someone to whom english is their first language.

Eric

I also have the Isspro, the only thing is that it should be attached to a pyro probe slightly downstream of the turbo and set to shut off at 300 (stock setting).
