Holy Cow are these hard to get off, taking off ex manifold to put in my EGT probe and am having a hard time. I have 3 out of 4 and cant for the life of me get the 4th one off. The one Im having trouble with is the one that is on the side closest to the block and closest to the fire wall. so looking at it from the front of the truck it would be the one in the uper right corner. I am haivng trouble getting a socket or wrench in there. I had to the like 5 extentions to the the other one off but the waste gate bar( I think thats what it is) is getting in the way. Anyone have any tips on taking these off.

Thanks

Opps sorry guys I was in the wrong page to post this in, if a mod coud move this to the engine/transmissin page, it would clear this up.

Thanks

It is easy to drill the hole in line with or just behind #3 port in the log part of the manifold. Drill on the side and almost everything will fall onto the terry cloth towel you place under the manifold. Tap with grease on the tap. Clean out the manifold port with a small magnet on a stick. Since the log is horizontal, the stuff won't fall onto the turbo inlet, it will just lay on the floor of the port.

I used two open end wrenches together to get the two furthest from teh block loose, and the I just used a normal sized 15mm socket and wrench on the other two.

Thanks guys, well I got it off but it was a pain, had to use a box end on the end of my socket wrench to the the exrta touque I needed it to get loose. Now all I need to do is wate for my freind to get here so I can go buy a drill bit to drill out the hole, the bit I have is to big to fit in the drill chuck:mad:. Well if its not one thing its another, thanks guys.

i guess you are using a 7/16" drill bit, a 1/4"npt tap, and a 3/8" drill chuck. yeah, sucks when you don't have the right size chuck for jobs... i've taken many drill bits and reduse'd the shank on the bench grinder. a little hard to get it perfectly round, but you can get it close...
