Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Turbo Upgrade Questions

I need something to get the EGT's down towing heavy in high altitude... .



I've got the '01 HO 6 speed, so that comes with a HX35 turbo, right?

Is this a 12 cm housing?



Will upgrading to Piers' HX35x14cm turbo help out in heavy/high altitude towing?



And what will this upgrade do when I occasionally get down to sea level?

I can not tell you what it would do at altitude, but I can tell you it works good at sea level, of course your stock turbo would work good at seal level too. I would give Piers a call and talk to him, better to get it straight from the man.

I just blew my hx35/12 cm housing (bearing failure) 39k miles :{ so I called Piers and talked to the pros, they said that for the 6 speeds HO that the hx40 would not work for them as they had extreme egt troubles, they seam to thinkl its related to the HO being a higher compression motor, they did recommend the hx35/14cm housing for me as I stated that I will never go over the 800 ft. lb. torque, they did also state that if I wanted to go higher with my power that the hx40 would be the best choice.



I havent put it together yet but will let you know how it works out.
