Hello DAWG:
Your 92 stock hot end housing is 21cm2. The best bang for the buck as a drop in is the 16cm2 hot end housing. Your stock housing does not have a "silencer ring". Any 16cm2 housing you purchase will not have one.
The reason I would think, to consider retro fitting a 16 housing would be to increase boost, and decrease the spool up time.
Don't chase added "whine", You will get it by a 16 (or 14 w/wastegate) housing, 3. 5" exhaust and free flow muffler, built injectors, pump turn up or mods. , K&N filter, and of course the FIRST THING is a boost and pyro gage set.
You'll get all the whine, and grunt you want. At that time you will have to find a way to use the large helping of torque you will now have.
I would suggest you purchase the 16 housing from a known supplier such as TED JANNETTY, TST, or DIESEL INJECTION of PITTSBURGH.
They will carry on this topic of boost, power, and torque.
150. 00 should get you the housing (genuine HOLSET) complete with all gaskets.
Regards.
