Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Turbo Whine

Hey guys,

Just installed a AFE Mega Cannon air filter on my 01 24V and man alive this thing is loud! :--) Have any of you tired an AFE without the silencer ring?



Seriously considering putting mine back in because of the noise.

Not me . . no way. Heck my Pdr 40 never came with a silencer ring. In fact I was thinking of hooking up an amp to the turbo LOL! Swap it back in if you find it loud. It only takes what 4 secconds?

I would think a guy that was running around with straight pipes wouldn't worry about a little more noise . But seriously, two things to try- one, buy a prefilter for the AFE, it helps some. Two, those who have purchased the TAG say it quiets it downs some as well.



And... ... ... ... if that's not enough, hold out a bit longer and AFE's newest filter will be available. Your complaint is the main reason they created it.
