Turbo Whines Really Loud With K&N. Is this Normal?

I don't mean to get the whole K&N to be or not to be thing going again. I'm not asking should I get one. I'm saying 2 days ago I got one and followed the instructions and put the grease in the groove and put the filter in the airbox and now when I drive the turbo whine is MUCH louder. Is this normal? I have opened the box back up and removed and reinstalled the filter after reading all the posts about it not sealing. It looks like it fits and is sealing properly but how can you tell other than eyeballing it? Its just the loud whine that has me worried. Not that I mind the noise if its supposed to sound like that. Has anyone else had this happen?

<font color=blue>With the silencer ring removed and the addition of a K&N filter then yes it is going to be more noticable. As long as it sounds like "normal turbo whine" then I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks guys. I just wanted to make sure I hadn't done something wrong to it. After all those posts about air leakage with a K&N I guess I just got a little freaked. I do enjoy the noise and yes its much better than wife whine but then to be honest most things are. : )
