Here is what I fabbed up for the 12 Valve...

It is a 3rd Gen OEM Rubber Elbow to a 4. 5" to 4" Sewer PVC Coupling (Not the sch40 stuff... )

Then to a 90° Elbow (Sewer PVC... )

PVC = $20

Then to an AMSOIL 4510 Air Filter...

Filter = $83shipped

It now just sails through the gears with all torque... on my 3rd Gen this setup has increased my mileage around 3-4mpg. I got 30. 8mpg going to San Antonio / Houston roundtrip. City looks like I'm around 28. 6mpg now. I can't complain...

Picked up 3-4 mpg with a filter huh? 28. 6 city, 30. 8 highway? Downhill both ways everywhere you go then I guess?

Well now with the "... Huh?" and the "... I Guess?" Your flared and molten anger has provoked me... to calculate:-{}

My latest trip to San Antonio - seems to have been around 17MPG... and my trip to Orlando seems to have been (drumroll)... around 22MPG. :-laf

Guess I may have been looking at that computer that Daimler-Chrysler sunk those hundreds of thousands into engineering and I - oh angered one - AM WRONG!

Yes... Wrong. I'm Wrong. Wrongly Wrongo... Missed it by a mile...

Now sleep - and sleep well and know I have been - Co... rected.

Huh!:-laf:-laf;)

Amazing how three powerful words, "huh" and "I guess" cost you around 12 mpg city and around 9 highway huh? I applaud you for admitting you were wrong though.

Lol, one more reason we can't trust computers!

WELL, fer sure, you can't trust the ones in these Dodges as far as MPG is concerned - especially after power mods.

Mine is consistently off by 5 MPG to the optomistic side... :rolleyes::-laf

But man, I'd sure love to be getting the 28 MPG it CLAIMS I'm getting out on the freeway...

Yea your post was really expensive for me... now I am going to cancel my travel plans. Hope your happy now... :D;)

there's a landscape place here in Athens on north 19 right off the loop selling Senate Seats,

I've had 11 different Cummins from 1st through 3rd gens and have never gotten 20 mpg out of any of them regardless of what I've done but maybe I like to hear the turbo too much

Hear it...

I did a custom app on my intake a few years ago, I gained about 1-2 MPG if I keep my foot out of it. About 23 on the high side, highway of course. On my rig I put a heat shield between filter and intake, AFE filter, you can hear the turbo spool now, nice sound. . It does what it was designed to do, reduce restriction, I could not keep the stock filter minder from pegging, only got about 27# of boost, now push around 32#, runs great. .

Ok, some of you are saying he is telling fish stories. Well, a long time friend has a 05 2wd 3500, auto, with minor mods gets 27mpg.

Another with an 02 gets 24mpg.

I've taken trips in these trucks and can attest to the accuracy.

I know my 98 will never get that because there is a magnet under my throttle that keeps pulling it to the floor. funny that.

So just because you don't get it, don't say he cannot.

The OP admits he does not really get that much mpg. He was reading his overhead readout. I truly believe that your friends readouts indicate that mileage. Satisfied?:rolleyes:

Ah, I see, but the difference is this, we weren't using the overhead readout, we were using the old fashioned gallons used devided by miles traveled.

My son has a early 91 2wd, no overdrive, 250,000 miles, and it still gets 26mpg. Well, it did before it had an electrical fire.

Still don't believe it? Not my problem.

I went over to USMCBay's house and took some spy photos!

Ok just so you know this is where the "MAGIC" happens

My brother made a wheelchair thingy for his dog with pvc pipe and wheels off the garbage companys trash can! I wish I could find a picture.

My buddy made a camper shell for his truck with pvc and a tarp!

Wow, you have been wrong in multiple ways already. As noted, the OP admitted to going off the overhead. No big deal, you just posted without reading the whole thread. However, I also have to wonder about the accuracy of any numbers you post, as "gallons used divided by miles traveled" will definately not tell you how many miles per gallon you are getting. That must be REALLY "old fashioned"!

Anyway, I don't believe your numbers at all, but I'm sure you are an ok guy so don't get mad about it! :)

24 and 26 mpg is possible out of the cummins motor, i can believe your stories, but i've yet to see a 3rd gen CTD get more then 22 mpg, i've gotten up to 26 mpg in my 95 12V, remember this is a standard cab long bed when fully unloaded super light. I do my milage the old fashioned way "Mile driven/Gallons consumed".
